Field of the play:
There are specific dimensions that are set for the field. If you are playing any international or national games, there should be set dimensions to the field. The dimensions would vary from one level of competition to another level of competition. The length of the field should range from 100 to 130 yards whereas the width of the field should range from 50 to 100 yards. There are also dimensions set for the goal post as well as the field marking.
The soccer ball also has certain measurements. These measurements are to be met to use the ball in the game. The circumference of the ball should not go beyond 28 inches and should not be less than 27 inches. The weight of the ball that is used by the people under 12 and more is 16 ounces and this should not be less than 14 ounces. This has to be checked thoroughly prior to the start of the game. There are a few guidelines that are given even for the ball that is defective and that is damaged in the middle of the game.
Total number of players:
The match will have two teams. Each team in the soccer game will have 11 players and this number should not exceed. In this 11 member team, there should also be a goalkeeper. If the team has less than seven players, then the match will not be started and the team may get disqualified from the competition. There are a few rules that will let you to substitute the players and penalties imposed on the teams that have too many players standing on the field.
Equipment used by the player:
This rule will have the instructions about the equipment that can be used by the player and that should not be used. This includes the clothing and jewelry and other equipment. The uniform that allows for the player to wear includes shorts, shirts, shoes, shin guards and socks. There is a rule that has been revised. As per the new rule, the player is not allowed to wear the electronic communication equipment.
The Referee is the main person in the game. This person is the one who will be enforcing all the football rules that are set by the governing body. The decision that is taken by the referee would be final. The referee prior to the start of the game will ensure that the equipment of the player and the ball that is used in the game are as per the specifications given in the rule book. This person will be acting as a timekeeper and keep a tab and punish the players who will violate the laws. Start and restart of the game:

Ball in and out of the play:
This rule will clearly define when the ball has to be in the play and out of the play. The play would be in the game when it is rolled and crossed the goal line, the touch line or if the referee has stopped the play.
Result of the match:
The goal is given to the team that has made it when the ball would cross the goal line. The point is given to the team when there is no foul that is committed by both the teams in the game. There are a few policies that are set even for the penalty kicks. There are also the rules been set when the goalie will commit any penalty.
The player is said to be in the offside position when he/she would stand closer to the goal line over the ball and the last defender. This rule will define the clear cut procedure for penalties that would actually initiate a penalty kick in the game. When the player comes closer to the ball to kick it, this has to be carried out at the time of run-up. If the player feints, then it results in penalty to the team.
