new football rules

There are many changes that are suggested by the new football rules makers of a football game in the change of rules. The rules of the football changes over time and this time International Football Association Board has come up with few amendments in the rules and gave clear cut clarification on the rules that already exist in the game. This is not the first time that the rules of this wonderful game are changing and this is also not the last time that the rules are frozen. These rules will have an impact on the 2019 to 2020 seasons. These rules are changing starting summer. These rules are set by the governing body. They will set the laws of the football. IFAB has members who are from FIFA and a few other people from different countries.

Few of the new football rules that have come into force in the game and that every player should be aware of include:

Handball: This is the major change that has been made by IFAB. The goal that is made accidentally or created with the help of accidental handball is no more counted as the goal in the game. The new rule that has been introduced also highlights that if the hand or arm is above the height of the shoulder it not considered as a natural position and the player would be at risk, if he/she positions the hand or arm in that position in the game.

Drop balls: The new rule that is set by IFAB is to put drop balls into oblivion until and unless the ball would touch the referee or any other officials in the match. The procedure that was used earlier was totally unfair and often led to the aggression of the players as per the governing body. Rather than the drop ball, the last team that would touch the ball would be receiving a point. If the game has come to an end when the ball is in the penalty area, the play has to be started with the goal keeper.

Free kicks: Player who belongs to the attacking team would be forbidden to stay in one yard of the wall that has three or more than three defenders. There is no clear justification for it and the presence of the player is totally against the game spirit. When the free kick is taken by the team that is defending in the penalty area that is given to them, the ball would be used in the play when the kick is taken. You do not need to let the ball cross the penalty area to play the game again. The free kicks are very interesting with the change in its rule.

Goal celebrations: Yellow and red cards would be shown to the players who are doing illegal celebrations inside the pitch such as removing the t-shirt or jumping with joy in between the crowd. The image and safety of the game would be the same if the goal is given to any of the team. This is the rule that has been introduced as a result of VAR. The player would be booked when he over celebrates inside the pitch for making a goal. If he over celebrates, then the goal would not be considered by VAR.

Goal kicks: In the past rule, the ball is considered to be dead until it leaves the penalty area once the goal kick is taken. Now, the ball would be in the game from the time the play is started and the ball is touched by the players and the game can be enjoyed prior to leaving the 18 yard box. This type of game would add lots more fun. This type of change would create a more dynamic restart in the game and avoid the wastage of time when the defending team would deliberately play the ball before it leaves the penalty area despite having the knowledge that the goal kick would be retaken.

Kickoff: The team who wins the toss can either choose to kick off the ball or choose the goal that they would like to attack upon. Earlier, the players had the choice to choose the goal on which they would like to attack. As per the IFAB, there are changes brought into this rule. Now, the kick off would be highly dynamic, so to let the captains who win the toss to choose the kick off.

Quick free kicks: If the player would like to issue a card to the defending team and the player in the defending team take any free kick briskly and create an opportunity to make a goal, then the referee can delay in giving the card to the player. The card would be issued by waiting until the next stoppage when the offending team is not getting distracted by the referee. This type of rule is considered to be totally unfair by the IFAB. When the new attack would be stopped by the offender, then the referee would hold every right to put a penalty on the offender. If the referee starting to issue a card to the player, then the free kick would not be allowed.

Substitutions: The player who has been substituted by another player should leave the field immediately to the closely goal line or to the touch line. Earlier, the player used to waste a lot of time by taking ample time to leave to the halfway line. The rule has been changed to keep the lost that is caused during the substitution at bay. This type of rule has been introduced to not allow the other players who are on the opposite side of the pitch to walk out to the dugout late that is caused in the game. So, now the player has to go to the nearest point to the touchline. It is important for the player to think a lot of how to exit the pitch card. In addition, they should go straight either to the technical area or to the dressing room otherwise they would be penalized.

Officials: The team official who misbehaves in the pitch would not be given a yellow or red card. If it is not possible to detect the person who has committed an offense, then the official coach who is standing in the technical area would be punished for that. Now, if the coaches are not maintaining eye-to-eye with the referee, then the officials will also be shown with the red or yellow cards as they do it for the players in the game.

Equipment used by the player: The player is allowed to wear multi color undershirts that are of various patterns. The undershirt should have the same sleeve as the t-shirt. This helps the officials to take the right decision in the match.

Head-to-Head: If the two teams in the game have scored the same points and has no difference in the goals for and against, then the place that is positioned on the table would be based on the head-to-head record of the game. Earlier, the position on the table would be based on the play off between the two sides of the players.

These are the new changes that have been made to the rules that are supervised by IFAB. The IFAB is called as the guardian of the laws of the game. This is the only organization that holds the rights to change and review the rules that are used in the game. This is the one that governs the gaming rules of football. These rules are changed by IFAB to improve and develop the game besides protecting the football spirit. These new football rules also make the game simple and easy for the players to enjoy the game. This organization was formed in 1886. The meetings of the change in the rules would be held every year.
